To add the Realm library to your project, first add the dependency to the project level build.gradle file.

classpath "io.realm:realm-gradle-plugin:10.3.1"

Add Realm to the Application Level

Now open the application-level build.gradle file and you need to apply the kotlin-kapt

apply plugin: 'kotlin-kapt'

You need to apply the realm-android plugin near the top of your application level build.gradle file.

apply plugin: 'realm-android'

Sync Project

Now you have to Sync your project to resolve the dependencies and Import the Realm SDK with the import statement in your Kotlin file.

import io.realm.Realm

Realm Adapters

Add the following dependency in the same file. This is not a requirement when working with Realm Database. But if your project is going to use Realm Adapters, then you have to include this library.

implementation 'io.realm:android-adapters:3.1.0'
